Location Information Terms — 2026-10-07

Summary

SoomRun reads your own location while you run, to measure your route and distance. It reads location only after you start a run and stops when you end it. Nothing in the app tells anyone else where you are. Signed out, your routes never leave the phone; signed in, they are stored in your own account as a backup and nowhere else.

These terms are kept separate from the Privacy Policy, as required by Article 19 of Korea's Act on the Protection and Use of Location Information (the "Location Information Act").

What the service does with location

This is everything SoomRun does with your location.

Feature	What it does
Recording a run	Reads GPS coordinates while you run to compute route, distance and pace.
Ghost race	Compares your current position with the route and timing of your own past run to show how far ahead or behind you are.
Run map	Draws the route of a finished run on a map.
Neighbourhood name	Attaches the name of the neighbourhood where the run ended (e.g. "Seongsu-dong") to the run title. One coordinate is turned into a name; that coordinate is not kept separately.
Weather	Attaches the weather at the finish location. The coordinate is used for the lookup only and not kept.
Share image	Only when you create one yourself, draws the shape of the route as a single line with the first and last 150 m cut off. No address, place name or coordinate appears.

• Location is read under the "While Using the App" permission only. Always-On is never requested.
• Reading starts when you start a run and stops the moment you end it.
• A standalone run on Apple Watch reads the watch's GPS; that record travels to your iPhone between your own devices only.
• No third-party provision. There is no feature that shares your location with other users or outside companies. For the neighbourhood name and the weather, one coordinate — the finish point — is sent to Apple's geocoding (Maps) and WeatherKit services. This is processing on our behalf so the record can be shown to you; SoomRun does not keep that coordinate, and Apple handles it under its own privacy policy.
• Location is never used beyond the purposes stated here, and only the minimum needed is read.

Purpose and retention of personal location information

• Delete a run with History → long-press a run → Delete or everything with Me → Delete all runs; delete the account and its backup with Me → Delete account. Deleted data is destroyed without delay.
• Deleting the app removes routes stored on the device. A backup made while signed in remains until you delete the account.

Records of location use and provision

• The record of what SoomRun did with your location is the run record itself — each run's start and end time, distance and route. The app writes it automatically when a run is saved; no one edits it by hand.
• Because there is no third-party provision, no provision records are created.
• The legal basis for keeping these records is Article 16(2) of the Location Information Act; the retention period is the one in the table in section 3 — until you delete that run.
• You can view these records at any time in the History tab and export them from Run details → Data.

Your rights, and those of a legal guardian

You can do any of the following at any time, and SoomRun will not refuse.

Temporarily stop collection and use	Location is not read unless you start a run. With the permission off, it is not read during a run either.
View or be informed of the records	Look in the History tab, or ask at manager@x-ti.org.
Correct the records	A run is a measurement and cannot be edited arbitrarily, but a run recorded wrongly can be deleted.
Destroy collected location data	Me → Delete all runs, Me → Delete account, or ask by email.

• When you withdraw consent or ask for deletion, the collected location data and its records are destroyed without delay.
• Turning the permission off or withdrawing consent leaves every feature that needs no location — reading your history, runs imported from Apple Health, analysis — fully usable.
• A legal guardian may exercise these rights on behalf of a child under 14 in the same way.

Children under 14

SoomRun is not directed at children under 14 and does not knowingly collect their location. If we learn that a child under 14's location has been collected, we destroy it without delay. A legal guardian may contact us at the address in section 1.

Safeguards

• On the device, location data is protected by Apple's device encryption.
• Backups travel over encrypted HTTPS, and security rules let only the account owner read or write them.
• Access to the systems that handle location data is limited to the privacy officer.

Changes to the business, suspension and closure

• If the company name, head office or the location information system changes, we file the required change notice and update these terms.
• If the location-based service is suspended or closed in whole or in part, we give 30 days' notice in the app and on this page. On suspension, personal location information is destroyed; on closure, the records in section 4 are destroyed as well. Runs kept on your device are unaffected.

Changes to these terms

• When these terms change, the date on this page is updated and notice is given in the app and on this page 7 days before they take effect.
• A change that is unfavourable to you or material is announced 30 days in advance, and signed-in users are notified individually inside the app.

Liability and disputes

• If SoomRun breaches these terms or the Location Information Act and you suffer loss, we compensate as the law provides.
• Please raise a dispute first at the address in section 1. If it is not resolved, you may apply for mediation to the Korea Media and Communications Commission or to the Personal Information Dispute Mediation Committee (www.kopico.go.kr, +82-1833-6972).
